As reported by the Abbotsford News, CIVL has received a grant from the Community Radio Fund of Canada (CRFC) to produce a music awards show that will recognize dozens of Fraser Valley artists from across genres in August 2016.

These funds were made available under the CRFC’s Radiometres program, a program that aims to improve local programming, volunteer training and community members’ participation. It’s not the first time we’ve received funding from the CRFC; a total of $115,177 has been awarded to CIVL over the past five years. All of this money has been dedicated towards personnel being funded to work on coordinating volunteers and station resources in order to best develop CIVL’s overall operations and sustainability through programming, promotion, and academic research and engagement. Nearly $10,000 of this grant will be dedicated to the operation and promotion of the FVMA event itself, over and above the hiring of a full time employee to tackle this exciting initiative for the next year.
